I personally did not agree with the SEVP decision to not grant non-immigrant students studying in the US their student visas if their schedule consisted of completely online. I felt they should’ve at least extended the previous visas or give the students a choice. I believe being a college student is already difficult let alone taking classes in a different country away from your family is difficult as is it and the SEVP weren’t really considerate with their decision. To a certain extent, I understand their decision to limit the travel of the students but the sympathy I have for these students is greater. The fact that ICE is involved, makes this decision even worse and makes this unethical. I know some colleges and universities were pushing hard to have in person classes so these students could stay in the US but they weren’t approved.
